We were in a hurry for a mate, but the mate had to be young. While we had broken the curse of senility, fertility and premature aging were still problematic for the pure human we required, and we needed to produce at least one heir of the primal race, so we would need to father multiple pups.
There was a woman that lived in a nearby dwelling - the Gain family had been our neighbours for years. We had considered the matriarch of their clan Miki a close friend, and had watched her young daughter Taylor grow into an acceptable mate. We discovered that Taylor had already found a mate, but we knew we could persuade her to abandon this "Arno" for ourselves. Growing up she had always idolised us, and it was surprisingly easy to convince her to join our pack.

We have Hopelessness and Forensics lifted. The next goal is to start a family, but there's a complication. I want the spouse to have the maximum lifespan, or close to, since human spouses don't live as long. In effect, what this means is that I have to watch all female teens and try to catch one as soon as she ages up - in other words, I need to be extremely creepy.
There are two candidates on my relationship panel: Taylor Gain and Bella Bachelor. We celebrated her induction into our pack in the traditional way, which is usually enjoyable. From the way her scent changed I knew our mating had been successful, but even though her pregnancy was yet to show she was forced to quit her job. Indeed, because we had failed to pre-apply for the marriage license we were almost fired ourselves, but fortunately our boss covered for us and we were permitted to remain in our current occupation.
Now that we had reached the peak our our profession, we decided we should remain at our physical peak for as long as possible, to help with the raising of the cubs. Taylor agreed, and so we both exercised vigorously to children's music.
Perhaps the cubs heard the music, and more spirits were induced to join the world - we were now the proud father of twin boys, Bleys and Brand. We could tell by scent that Brand carried our bloodline the most strongly.

Taylor has 11 more days as a young adult, which is not ideal. She has the traits Ambitious (great), Bookworm (fine), Brooding (unfortunate), Shy (most unfortunate), and Virtuoso (could be useful). Her only skills are 1 point of Painting. A pretty decent "dowry" that included 2 books and a car (I sold the car, no space). Her lifetime wish is 3 degrees, which is not going to happen.
She's presently at level 2 of the Business career, but there's no real question that it's best to breed first, lift later now that Forensics is clear. So I get them right on that.

A bit crowded, but the next level is almost ready to take some overflow. Which will be needed, because I immediately got Taylor pregnant again. Not great traits - Bleys has Loner and Virtuoso while Brand has Grumpy and Loner (what a great choice for heir that is going to be) - but it should be survivable.
It saddens us that these cubs are growing up in an environment with so little to offer them but sorrow. Our pack will eventually make it better though; even at this young age, we think they understand that.

Deirdre is born. She has the traits Couch Potato and Excitable. And of course that means the boys are now toddlers. Note that without having lifted Education there is no point in teaching them to talk, walk, and so on - I haven't even purchased a potty.
It's tricky to raise kids and raise Athletics at the same time. I managed 9 points, assisted by a lucky Snowflake Day, but I couldn't get to 10 before becoming an elder with the next day of work.

And there was even another cub - Fiona, who also carried the blood. We had four cubs to care for, and now no job to pay for food. And hunting was very poor - even at my best we could not have provided for such a large pack through our own efforts, and our senses were dulled with age now.
With the new Criminal rules you definitely don't want to be without an income. And while I could get Benedict up to 10 Athletics in probably less than a day, while you can keep jobs if you get to 10 Athletics as an elder you can't get new jobs.
It was our beloved mate that provided the solution. We had a pack with four healthy children - perhaps she could now take over as earner, since her services as life giver were no longer required? It is true that we had wished for an even larger pack, but we had to admit that Taylor's idea was born of sense. She had always been interested in writing and books, and as it turned out the military found her a position in their translation and transcription service. We could already see some wrinkles on our mate, and we realised Taylor may grow old before she was able to really contribute to the service - but we were happy to support her, especially since the twins had now started school.
But really, 4 sims for generation 2 isn't bad. I decided to leave it at that, and get Taylor a job. So over to the paper, and Journalism pops up. That will do - as a Bookworm, this isn't by any means a bad choice. She has 2 more days as a YA, which means she has 16 days as an adult to lift it. That will be tight, but she is absolutely permitted to finish it as an elder as long as I get her Athletics to 10. It's currently at 5, so that seems possible, if tricky.
With our mate now providing for the pack, we turned our attention to caring for the little ones. We eagerly await when Brand comes of age, and we are instructing him that he must continue our traditional, and learn to howl in words, so that the story of our pack will not be lost.
Taylor gets to work and spends the first day sucking up to the boss, managing to get the promotion anyway, and then war dials to try and get up to friends (I haven't had time to get her any Charisma yet). That's enough for this entry I think - next time, lifting Journalism and teenagers.
